Community Goods vs. 7 Brew: Which Coffee Order Fits You

A sit-down specialty cafe against a drive-thru built on customization. What each one actually offers, and how to pick.

Community Goods and 7 Brew are both coffee stops, and that is close to the only thing they share. Community Goods is a sit-down specialty cafe with two Los Angeles locations and a fixed printed menu. 7 Brew is a drive-thru chain built around one idea: customize everything, at whichever of its many locations you happen to pull up to. Here is what each one actually offers.

Community Goods: a fixed menu with real prices

Every drink at Community Goods has one published price for both of its Los Angeles locations. A straight Espresso is $4.50, a Cappuccino is $6.00, and its house specialty, the Einspänner Latte (espresso topped with sweetened cream, sea salt, and cocoa powder), is $7.50. Its Latte runs $7.00, and its Cold Brew is $6.00. Matcha is a full section on its own, using Rocky's ceremonial grade matcha: a Matcha Latte is $8.00. Oat, almond, organic whole, and organic fat free milk are all available on any drink at no extra charge, per Community Goods' own site. Not a coffee person? Its Chai Latte is $7.00.

7 Brew: no published prices, a much bigger drink list

7 Brew doesn't publish prices on its own menu, its own website, or through its ordering app in a way we could read, and delivery platforms didn't return a usable listing either. What it does publish is a far larger drink catalog than Community Goods: 7 Originals, 7 Classics coffee drinks, 7 Energy drinks, caffeine-free 7 Fizz Sodas, teas, chai, and matcha, lemonades, smoothies, and shakes, each built to order in Kids, Small, Medium, and Large sizes. 7 Brew's own menu calls out favorites in a few categories, including Heatwave (a 7 Energy drink with lemon, lime, and orange), Lemon Drop (a caffeine-free 7 Fizz Soda with lemon and cane sugar), Pink Paradise (a lemonade with cherry, raspberry, and watermelon), and Matcha Latte - Cloud 9.

Customization: the real difference

7 Brew calls its build-your-own system “Customize Everything,” and it covers extra shots, flavor add-ins, sweetness level, milk alternatives, toppings, and drizzles on top of any drink, on any size. Most of the viral 7 Brew drink combinations people order are really just these options stacked together. Community Goods customizes mainly through milk choice; its menu is shorter, but every item and price is fixed and printed, so there is nothing to configure beyond that.

Which one fits you

Want a sit-down cafe with ceremonial matcha, a printed price you can count on, and a small kitchen serving toast and sandwiches alongside your drink? Community Goods is built for that. Want a drive-thru you can fully customize, a bigger flavor list, and don't mind not knowing the price until you order? That is what 7 Brew is built around.
