Raising Cane's and Dave's Hot Chicken both built a whole restaurant around fried chicken, and not much else. That is roughly where the similarity ends. Cane's runs one menu, one sauce, and one flavor of chicken. Dave's runs seven spice levels and a slider-first format borrowed from Nashville hot chicken shacks. Here is what that actually means for your order, using the real combo prices from each chain's own board.

Ordered on its own instead of in a combo, a single Chicken Finger is $1.29. Dave's doesn't sell loose tenders at the same kind of combo pricing, so the closer comparison there is combo to combo rather than piece to piece.

How spice actually works at each one

Cane's does not have a spice ladder. Every finger is the same recipe, and the only variable is how much Cane's Sauce you use. If you want built-in heat, Cane's is not the chain for it.

Dave's runs seven tiers: No Spice, Lite Mild, Mild, Medium, Hot, Extra Hot, and Reaper. Per Dave's own nutrition guide, that spice choice also shifts the calorie count, since the seasoning rub itself adds calories at the hotter end. A Dave's #1 is 1230–1350 Cal depending on the spice level you pick, with the low end at No Spice or Lite Mild and the high end from Mild through Reaper.

Which one to pick

If you want a fast, predictable order with no decisions to make beyond a drink, Cane's is built for that. If you want to control heat, or you prefer a slider format over a tray of tenders, Dave's gives you more to work with, at combo prices that run a bit higher for a comparable amount of food.
